Nice bike man and enjoyed the detail in your descripsh.
I’m just building one myself, considering using a lower chain guide to help alleviate chain growth. Wonder if this is what you’ve aimed for too and whether you’ve succeeded?

I put the e13 chain guide on when I first built the bike because I was worried about how little the chain actually made contact with the chain ring due to the upper frame idler, but I've been recently trying it without the lower chain guide roller and I haven't dropped the chain yet. As far as chain growth, honestly I don't notice it's there.

Hey man, was doing some maintenance on my bike earlier today, out of curiosity I measured my head tube angle with a digital angle finder and I got... 65-degrees. Bike was unloaded, tires are identical with identical air pressure.

Ah right. I'm thinking of purchasing the SX myself. The down tube protrudes forward of the chain ring somewhat, have you had a problem with it hitting obstacles at all or is ground clearance still good?

With a 180mm fork up front I haven't tagged anything yet with the down tube (or even the e*Thirteen bash guard)... plus the frame does have a thick molded guard on it just in case.

Saw that you got a OneUp dropper, sweet! Are you able to slam it down to the seatpost collar? I've been thinking of upgrading. Have a 170mm oneup dropper on my sentinel and i love it.

Super dope build! Looks like from the photo that you can slam the KS LEV Integra 125mm all the way down so that it is all the way in the seattube (lowest possible seat)?

Mine still has the 125mm Reverb, and I can't slam it all the way because the cable extrudes from the base so much. The overall length of the 125mm Reverb with the cable on the bottom is really close to a 150mm KS LEV Integra I have on another bike, potentially a bit longer. So I'm trying to figure out if I can get a 150mm KS LEV in my Supreme SX slammed all the way down. May have to stick with a 125mm dropper.

Roger that, certainly a clean/easy solution. I'll probably do that. One more question - how much modding did you have to do to that V4 mudguard to fit?

I'll post my bike check soon! Waiting on my Light Bicycle 38mm carbon rims and Onyx hubs to come inSmile .

125mm Integra is the only one that can slam down all the way. 150mm Integra is too long. Any other brand is longer than Integras, so those won't work either (I tried)

The photo above with the OneUp dropper and the Hope seat post clamp shows the 150mm post as low as it can be installed. I had to limit the saddle height about 10mm to get it where I want it; I could move the dropper abut 10mm in more but then the actuator doesn't work as it pinches the cable inside the seat tube.

Word! Good to know, thanks! So I'll probably stick with a 125mm Integra and a quick release seat collar so I can slam the seat for jump/dh/shuttle sessions (got a Hope one which is really nice).

Another thought I had was using a KS externally routed 150mm. My 150mm KS externally routed dropper is just under 8.5" long I think. So without the extra stuff at the bottom of the post that the Integra has, this is a pretty ok option (except having to figure out how to route the cable). Would be able to easily remove the dropper for park days too then, which is a plus. Hmmmm....

For park I use a standard seatpost. I just disconnect the cable from the Integra and let the cable sit inside the regular seatpost.

The mudguard bolts on, you have to trim the right side to clear the chain when you're in the larger cassette cogs.

You're right - the rotors haven't been used and there was no dust in the bolt heads... because it was a fresh, brand new build. If you read the photo captions, it says that all the photos were taken right before the first ride... so no, it's not a show bike.

The height it's at in the photos is as low as I can get the OneUp 150mm in there without the cable mechanism binding on the HPP pivot. A KS Integra 150mm might go lower (my original 125mm Integra could slam down) but I don't know for sure.

Hey dude, I finally finished my build and have a query for ya if you don’t mind. I’ve measured and remeasured my head angle at 63° rather than the stated 65° and the wheelbase is a corresponding 10mm longer than the geo chart....the BB is right where it should be from the chart at 10mm drop.
Although I built it from the ground up it’s the same spec as an off the peg bike. Lyrik 180, 230x65 shock, tyres both the same DHR2.
Seems to me Commy got their numbers wrong. Or something wrong with my frame. Seems a simply case of the wrong head angle on the chart?
Is this something to do with why they discontinued them?

@thomdawson I've never actually measured my HA, but I'd say my stock bike rides like it is closer to 63 than 65. Which is a desirable trait for me for this type of bike Smile . Maybe they did get it wrong on their chart? Lyrik 180 is going to have a slightly longer a-to-c measurement than a fox 36, but that shouldn't be a 2 degree difference. They probably just discontinued them since they didn't sell as well as their Meta series, or the Supreme DH. Just a hypothesis though. Most people still seem to want full DH rigs...not sure why when you can have a rad beast like this that can still be pedaled!

@daway Yeah for sure I imagine most people would be happy to learn it’s slacker than stated but the fact it isn’t crazy slack on the chart was a major factor in my decision. I’m riding in UK bike parks and they tend to consist of tight corners and steep lips, slackness isn’t the best way to go.
I’m speaking with Commencal who’re being very receptive but would love to hear some measurements from you guys if you get bored enough ;-)
I’m also gonna get some solid numbers all round and crunch em to see if I can figure out what’s up.
My best guess is that the geo chart should simply state the head angle at 63° rather than 65°...seems unlikely I have a frame welded 2° out but then the Supreme DH is 63°
I dunno. Just wish I’d got a Gambler if I’m to be stuck with the slackness.

Yeah maybe. I mean it's a 1.5" straight headtube so you can run an angleset to make it less slack, just need to figure out the right ZS56 combo. Or just run the shock stiffer so it rides higher? I dunno. Bummer you don't like it, I love mine. It's a Whistler wrecker! Super fun having a DH bike I can pedal. I also have a transition sentinel that sees more daily duties, this just serves as my DH rig (that I can pedal to hit local freeride trails). Way more versatile than a full DH.

Never thought to measure my HA either, but the Supreme SX can use offset cups like the DH, they share the same head tube. I don't get into the numbers game so much as I adjust for how it feels, not to get to some specific number.

@ Raine I should have clarified, I first noticed it riding not when I got the angle finder out - it feels like a dh bike which ain’t really what I wanted from the bike. If I’d known it was 63° I wouldn’t have bought it, plain and simple. I’d have bought a dh bike or a trail bike. I was even considering a dual crown on this one at some stage but that will take it to around 62° which is far too slack where I ride, 63 is already tank-like. The Lyrik at 180 is surprisingly stiff though, feels stiffer than the 170 36 I have.
I’ve considered the angle set route but right now I wanna get to the bottom of whether it’s an issue with my frame (in which case it’s being shipped back to Commencal) or if they got it wrong with all of them (in which case I may be stuck with adjuster headsets unless they’ll swap it for a Clash).
There’s also the option of an offset bush at the top of the shock...I’m just a bit pissed I paid so much cash for something that apparently ain’t what it says it is.

Quick head up for you guys, the U-Link bolt sheared itself off (it was properly torqued) while hoping about in my yard setting spring rate. They want me to file a full warranty claim...so I’m gonna buy one rather than wait but that’s €33 shipped to UK. So be careful with that 5mm Allen head axle bolt on the left hand chainstay Wink

Either you have bad luck or a bad torque wrench... I'm going on over a year now (including multiple trips to Snow Summit, Skypark, and Mammoth) and I haven't had any issues with the frame hardware

I’m quite certain it was bad luck, cold morning etc. But they have the single bolt listed as a spare part, I’m also quite sure they know it’s a weak spot. And looking at it, it’s clear to see the Allen tool recess goes too far which is exactly where it sheared. 10-15nm on that is gonna fail at some point. Unless they’ve started using an updated design.

Not bad...obviously it's built more for going down than up, but the 46t rear helps a bit. It won't climb like a hardtail XC, but it can climb.

Thanks but I am looking for a comparison to current Enduro bikes like (Specialized Enduro, Santa Cruz Nomad, Trek Slash....), I know it isn't a XC hard tail dude.

Well coming from a Meta V4, it feels pretty close. Bike is obviously slightly heavier, and the saddle position is farther back.

Ok thanks man. I want to iliminate chain growth as much as possible to enable running the shortest cage mech possible. I dig what you say about the chain:chainring contact though, that was also one of my first thoughts.
How low can you get the oneup dropper?

This is the first time I'm trying Schwalbe tires (normally I run Continentals) and so far they seem pretty capable.

That's what they're supposed to do, although I'm still fine-tuning the setup so i can't say if they actually do make the front end stiffer to the point that the rider can feel it.
