Fox Racing's SpeedSuit RS - It's Not a Skin Suit 34

Fox gave us a look at their new racing-only project, the SpeedSuit. Select downhill mountain bike athletes will be wearing it at the first World Cup in Fort William, Scotland, this weekend, and we wanted to find out if it was legal for them to wear. If so, what is the design is all about? Racers like Jackson Goldstone have been stoked on how comfortable it is and how fast it makes them feel. We even ask how one goes to the bathroom once they're wearing it.

Haha, some people seem to have very strong opinions about this! I like it, it's obviously wetsuit-inspired and I can see the advantages. For racing, every small gain can make a difference, so if an athlete feels more comfortable in this it may allow him to perform better, even if it's a placebo thing. As for the UCI rule, I think this one flies too close to the sun and will get banned.That doesn't mean the rule is reasonable, but it's there and if they intend to be fair they should enforce it.

Revisionist history!!  DDestroyer was wearing super tight stretchy euro dance jeans, not some stiff miner 49er classic style jeans. 
 

do these have pockets?—specifically pockets that fit phones? I’m going to say if they can’t run phones with these, that “free” feeling the riders are reporting is 77% due to breaking those oppressive digital shackles. Mannnn. 
 

I cannot wait for the trickledown on these. Brad’s wife is going to buy him a new mountain bike outfit for his birthday…going to be so great to see in real life on normal people! Ahahaahhaa

And this isn’t the front MTB’s fashion war is being fought on…we have way bigger issues than top racers wearing tight clothes!

At least Denim Destroyer felt like he was trying to bridge the gap between spandex and work wear. Laughing
Maybe they should make it look like a set of Dickies coveralls and a set of Wolverine steel toes.

Still waiting for a brand to release pants with integrated knee pads!

If you watch the video, the integrated protection is part of the suit. They have integrated chest, back, and elbow protection as part of the under "jersey" thing. Honestly, the integrated protective jersey looks great, as the worst part of elbow pads is that they always slip down!

Not too long ago, racers fought to change the rule to get out of skin suits. And here we are now slowly going back to them. The designer can say "it's not a skin suit..." till their blue in the face. But I'm not blind either. I'm personally not a fan of the design. But if a rider/racer wants to wear this. They should have the right too.  But it's also sad that most DH riding kits are following this trend. Sorry Fox, I'm going to vote with my wallet and pass on this.  Thank God Troy Lee Designs DH kits are still a bit more "relaxed."

Let’s just kill the rule and put them back in full Lycra and helmets without peaks. If this is the way they want to go with aero, make them own it.

Can we please get a one time exception for the word "ghey".
This kit is quite literally all of the fabrics, cuts, seams, stitches, tailoring and trimmings, design cues & cute little objectively worded definition of the opposite of cool.
